Who is Feyyaz
In 2014, I formally encountered the traditional art of Ebru, also known as Turkish water marbling.
During that time in Ankara, I met Ahmet, a master Ebru artist who agreed to teach me the craft. I was preparing to move to the United States, and he encouraged me to carry this art form with me and share it wherever I went.
After moving to the United States, I continued practicing Ebru while living in El Paso, Texas. What began as studio practice soon turned into public demonstrations and small exhibitions, where audiences encountered the process of painting on water for the first time.
Watching paint spread across the surface of water and form unexpected patterns often creates a moment of wonder. Through these experiences I began to realize that Ebru is not only captivating for the artist—it resonates deeply with those who witness it.
Over time my practice expanded beyond traditional paper marbling. I began experimenting with transferring patterns onto new materials, exploring the human body as a canvas, and eventually bringing Ebru into live performance environments through projection.
Today I live and work in Washington, D.C., where my work explores the intersection of traditional Ebru, performance, projection, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence
